About the event
79 years ago, the Red Army liberated the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp. Over a million mostly Jewish people, but also Sinti and Roma, homosexuals, political opponents, Red Army soldiers and others from all over Europe were deported there by the Nazis to be systematically murdered in the gas chambers. On January 27, 1945, 8,000 survivors were liberated. Today, the name Auschwitz symbolizes Germany's crimes like no other. The Neustadt/Leipziger Bahnhof train station itself was an important transport hub of the “Third Reich”, from which hundreds of Jews from Dresden were deported to their deaths in Auschwitz.
On January 27th we invite you to a memorial tour, which starts at 1 p.m. on the Neumarkt and ends, as in previous years, at the DD-Neustadt train station. Along the way we will hear several speeches from different groups. At the station forecourt we will once again provide the opportunity, accompanied by music, to lay flowers, pause and remember the victims of National Socialism.
No forgive no Forget!
Never again fascism
