About the event
The history of the Jews in Dresden goes back to the Middle Ages. They were repeatedly affected by persecution. Today, Jewish life in Dresden can flourish again in three Jewish communities. On the hike, participants can experience the particular characteristics, similarities and differences of the communities. Each synagogue provides an overview of its history, members, activities, funding and its respective vision for the future. The three communities are connected by a hike in which Hildegart Stellmacher reports on former places of Jewish life in Dresden. From the synagogue of the Jewish community in Dresden we go to the synagogue of the Chabad Lubawitsch community. The hike ends in the synagogue of the Jewish Community. In each community, participants are welcomed with a small refreshment. At the end of the hike, participants are invited to drink coffee together, ask the community representatives their questions and talk to them.
