About the event
The world-famous klezmer band Dobranotch enters the world of flying tubes with their first circus show. The St. Petersburg band, known for their spectacular performances of traditional Eastern European Jewish music, has teamed up with circus performers to put on a Klezmer circus show for the whole family. With acrobatics and aerial acrobatics, clowning and pantomime, with instruments that can do more than just be played, with stories and of course with live klezmer music that will get you out of your chair and making you dance, the show celebrates resilience in the face of Oppression. It draws on a long Jewish and Yiddish tradition of theater and humor, but also deals with the more serious themes of Jewish history in Europe and the present-day exile of some performers — as with many Jewish traditions, joy comes with sadness, major with minor.
