Restoration of the Star of David on the Kulturforum Görlitz synagogue
The city administration of Görlitz cordially invites you to another important construction phase at the Kulturforum Görlitz synagogue. The Star of David, weighing 600 kilograms, is lifted onto the dome of the house by crane.

About the event
After the completion of many years of complex renovation work and thanks to considerable funding and donations, the Kulturforum Görlitz Synagogue was put into operation in July 2021 as a place of encounter and cultural and social life.
14 months after the official opening, another milestone for the building is the re-erection of the Star of David. At its meeting on September 24, 2020, the Görlitz City Council spoke out in favor of re-erecting the Star of David on the former synagogue and unanimously approved the corresponding proposal from the administration. Thanks to 25 donations, a total of around 81,000 euros was collected. For the city of Görlitz, this project is of great importance from a historical, commemorative culture and monument preservation point of view.
Please note:
- If difficult weather conditions, such as a storm, appear, the installation of the star may have to be canceled at short notice.
- Driving into Otto-Müller-Strasse is not possible on this day. Please use the parking facilities in the surrounding streets or the City Center multi-storey car park, An der Frauenkirche 12.
