About the event
Dear friends, I cordially invite you to get to know my project "RELICS" and contemporary art in general as part of the exhibition "FRAGMENTS OF MEMORY: The Treasure of Prague's St. Vitus Cathedral in Dialogue". Date: Saturday, 07.09. Time: 13:00 Venue: Kunsthalle im Lipsiusbau, Georg-Treu-Platz 1, 01067 Dresden Meeting point: in front of the entrance to the exhibition at 13:00 As part of this exhibition, my project "RELICS" will be presented, which looks for universal forms and intercultural connections. It enters into an exciting dialogue with one of the most important church treasures in Europe. From May 15, the exhibition will be expanded to include my artistic intervention. In "RELICS" I examine the universal forms of gold that can be found across eras and cultures and that symbolize power, beauty and the divine. Interestingly, similar forms can be found today in Styrofoam packaging. By gilding the Styrofoam, these visual parallels become visible and tell of the deep anchoring of sacred gold forms in the cultural memory of humanity. I look forward to meeting you on Sunday and delving together into the meanings and connections of these forms. Jahna Dahms
