The day of remembrance on February 13, 1945 commemorates not only the physical destruction of Dresden, but also the innocent souls who lost their lives amid wars, destruction and the terrible legacy of National Socialism. However, this memory should also be understood as a moment of hope. In 1945, numerous bomb victims, including citizens of the Soviet Union, found their final resting place in the New Catholic Cemetery. In addition to the special memorial for the victims of the bombing, there are other memorials in the cemetery, including a memorial for the twelve members of the resistance group “Black Legion” and a circumscribed memorial that commemorates the victims of fascism from 14 nations.
