About the event

79 years ago, on February 13th, Dresden was bombed. The city, characterized by a population that either supported the rise of the Nazis or did not put up enough resistance, suffered terrible consequences. Despite isolated opposition to National Socialism, they remained in the minority. Wars always leave their mark on the civilian population, whether they supported, resisted or joined the war. World War II returned to Germany, and Dresden experienced its suffering on February 13, 1945. Thousands died, including men who fought in the war and Jews who were persecuted. These events continue to shape the lives of Dresden families to this day. In 2024 we will continue to face wars and war-like conflicts around the world with similar consequences to 1945: death, trauma and destruction.

The OMAS AGAINST RECHTS.DRESDEN initiative uses February 13th as an opportunity to look beyond the past into the present and future. The “For Peace – Against War and Violence Everywhere” is intended to set an example. We remember the victims of past and present conflicts and hope for a future without bloodshed.
