About the event
This year we would like to hold a groundbreaking symposium entitled:“Jewish, now! – The importance of Jewish culture for a democratic society”on April 15th and 16th, 2024 in cooperation with the Office for Culture and Monument Protection.
Why? Unfortunately, the sponsoring association cannot host a festival in 2024 because an internal renewal is required.
In order to receive suggestions for our change process and to come up with new ideas for the further development of our festival as well as forthe planned theme year 2026 “Jewish culture in Saxony” To collect information, we decided to organize this symposium.
Our aim is to think about a vibrant Jewish culture and to find answers together to questions such as: What significance does Jewish culture have within the entire cultural landscape? How is it possible to create positive experiences for Jewish topics? What can we learn from other people's experiences and how can we enrich each other?
We are looking forward to national and international speakers such as Keith Kahn-Harris, author of the book “How do Jews look like” or Lea Wohl von Haselberg, curator of the Berlin-Brandenburg Jewish Film Festival. During the symposium, participants will have the opportunity to talk to each other and to experts in order to gain a new perspective on communicating and presenting Jewish topics.
The symposium is aimed at a specialist audience, but is also open to the interested public. It will be in the cultural town hall, in Königstr. 15, 01097 Dresden. At this point we would also like to thank the Cultural Foundation of Saxony for supporting our project.
We are planning a public concert on the evening of April 15th and would be happy to welcome you there. The detailed one You can find the program here.
We only have a limited space capacity. You can make a reservationkarten@juedische-woche-dresden.de send.
In the hope that we can organize our festival again in 2025 with new energy, stable structures and lots of ideas, we wish you all the best. Stay connected to us.
We are looking forward to two exciting days full of exchange!
