About the event
The destruction of the literary and enlightenment spirit, the burning of modern intellectual Europe and the construction of difficult enemy images was the blazing prelude to the barbarism that followed in the spring of 1933 with the burning of books. Tons of literature dedicated to the Enlightenment were thrown into the fire, thus initiating the “flickering decline” of a special cultural consciousness. Murder and suicide at the same time? How a scientific elite of the time tried to burn the German spirit and the stars remained immortal. This program also tells about how young people lost their future, who jumped out of a speeding train without bruises or why the leader was sweating. Texts and songs by the “burnt poets” Erich Kästner, Irmgard Keun, Stefan Zweig and others will be included in the lecture.
