A wonderful article about our parishioner Hannah Kruse appeared in the MDR's Sachsenspiegel on May 29, 2025. Here's just a brief summary with a link to the full article on MDR.
Hannah Kruse, a Jewish woman from Dresden, has found not only a passion in skydiving, but also a deeper spiritual connection to herself and her faith. She has been jumping regularly since 2001, experiencing both respect and joy. For Hannah, skydiving is a way to experience freedom and feel closer to God. She often celebrates Shabbat at an airfield, combining this biblical day of rest with her passion for the sport.
Hannah was born with ambiguous gender and has faced many challenges in her life, including bullying and violence. Yet she finds comfort in the faith of her Jewish great-grandmother and the feeling of being supported during the jump. When the parachute opens, she feels a freedom and lightness that she has long lacked.
